2. Who Are Your School's Quiet Heros?
Presenter: Kim John Payne
For: JJMS Students
Mr. Payne will motivate you to recognize the quiet things you do to support each other and in particular, he will show how students support those who are being subtly excluded. This discussion will foster "no big deal inclusion" on a day to day level in our JJMS community...."Quiet" but very powerful.

Back by popular demand! If you think addiction isn’t possible when you’re young, think again. Young people in recovery will share their experiences with drug addiction and alcoholism, recounting the long road to recovery and the ongoing struggle to stay sober.

This workshop will help students identify the small and big challenges faced by middle schoolers and give them a formula for making those challenges easier to manage, The Resilience Formula.
6. Award Winning Documentary Film by JJHS 2012 Graduate, Christoph Sawyer, "Homophobia in High School"
Presenters: JJHS Faculty, Student and Community Member Panel
For: JJHS Students
How can society foster acceptance and respect for all students? The 10 minute film will be shown. Then, continue the discussion with the panel which includes your fellow students, JJHS teachers, and community members.
Scholarships are available. Contact your school principal, via email, and let them know you are interested in applying. This process helps us maintain your privacy.

K-L Family University
The Katonah Lewisboro Family University is a not-for-profit corporation, established in 1994, formed following a town meeting when 300 members of the Katonah Lewisboro School District community gathered to address the large numbers of alcohol and drug related accidents involving John Jay High School students.
It is a grass roots, community based organization made up of dedicated teachers, parents, students, counselors and other professionals.
Family University believes that fostering effective parenting skills, enhancing communication, and supporting connections among family members will help prevent the misuse of drugs and alcohol, and encourage children to make positive choices.
It is a valuable community resource that has impacted a growing number of parents and children. Its reach has expanded dramatically from 400 people in 1994 to over 4,000 people in 2011 and our efforts contiue to grow.
