2 SESSIONS FOR ALL ADULTS, MS STUDENTS, HS STUDENTS
SESSION 1 – 7:00-8:00pm
1. The Resilience Formula: Proactive, Not Reactive Parenting!
Presenter: Joel Haber
For: All Parents, Faculty, Staff, Administrators and Adult Community Members
Everyone faces challenges. Resilience is how we respond to those challenges.
Many parenting books tell us what makes a good parent, but not how to be that type of parent, especially during challenges, when strong emotions come into play. Proactive parenting puts you in control by providing:
• A FRAMEWORK for handling parenting challenges
• LESSONS to script language to make children independent and resilient
• A PLAN to transform challenges into opportunities to teach resilience
2. Who Are Your School's Quiet Heros?
Presenter: Kim John Payne
For: JJMS Students
Mr. Payne will motivate you to recognize the quiet things you do to support each other and in particular, he will show how students support those who are being subtly excluded. This discussion will foster "no big deal inclusion" on a day to day level in our JJMS community...."Quiet" but very powerful.
3. Been There, Done That
Presenters: Young People in Recovery
For: JJHS Students
Back by popular demand! If you think addiction isn’t possible when you’re young, think again. Young people in recovery will share their experiences with drug addiction and alcoholism, recounting the long road to recovery and the ongoing struggle to stay sober.
SESSION 2 – 8:15-9:15pm
4. Simplicity Parenting:Using the Extraordinary Power of Less to Raise Calmer, Happier, and More Secure Kids
Presenter: Kim John Payne
For:All Parents, Faculty, Staff, Administrators and Adult Community Members
Would you like to slow down your children's lives but don't know where to start? Want to worry and hover less and enjoy your children more? Simplicity Parenting will inspire you, reassure you, and most important of all, it will remind you: that less is more, that simplicity trumps complication, that rythym and routine bring peace to your family.
